Description Mike Crecelius 2011-04-11 02:17:15 CEST
I am testing with the Mageia Beta 1 DVD (4GB in size):

If I use the 64 bit disk on a 64 bit system, the default desktop is Gnome
If I use the 32 bit disk on a 64 bit system, the default desktop is Gnome
If I use the 32 bit disk on a 32 bit system, the default selection is KDE.

Shouldn't the default desktop selection be the same for all versions?

By default desktop, I mean in the installer on the page where you have the option to select which desktop environment to install (KDE, Gnome or Custom).

I hardly doubt that.
Are you sure you didn't wrongly choose the wrong desktop in last test?

Hi,
When doing the install I am using the option to Erase and use entire disk.

I am simply pointing out that when installing on a 64 bit system with the 64 bit disk, the Gnome button is selected for you in the installer, so if you want KDE, you need to manually select the KDE button before selecting Next.
But when you install on a 32 bit system, it is the KDE desktop option that is selected. I am just asking if the the default selection for desktop (KDE or Gnome) should be the same regardless if you are using the 64 bit or 32 bit disk.

KDE is selected in the installer by default for both 32bit and 64bit, I've just tested with the x86_64 DVD.

So resolution is either INVALID (bogus test) or OLD (transient issue).
Anyway closing...
