Description of problem: Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 0.998 2.mga2 x86_64 How reproducible: Connect the scanner, start XSane Steps to Reproduce: 1. Connect scanner 2. Start XSane 3. The program start xsane 0.998 Integrated Camera and there is no possibility to scan. Doing the same in x586 in Mageia 1 will work as expected.
The program is OK in Mageia 1 (x86_64)
You may find it needs usblp kernel module. You can try using 'modprobe ublp' as root. usblp is blacklisted, so it doesn't start at boot as it can interfere with recent versions of cups, causing the printer to not function properly. If you find the modprobe command works and you can still print OK then you can remove the file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-cups-common.conf so it can be loaded at boot.
This is the result: [root@localhost jan]# modprobe ublp FATAL: Module ublp not found. [root@localhost jan]# I tried: [root@localhost jan]# modprobe usblp [root@localhost jan]# Then I printed a picture OK. And then tried to scan but the problem still excist. Still get xsane 0.998 Integrated Camera.video0 No scanning! Just a black field in the window
Installed Mageia 3 alfa 2 x586 in VMware Workstation 9. Uppdated about 455 programs. Installed Xsane, sane, gscan2pdf. Neither can detect the scanner, Epson Perfection 2400 PHOTO VMware detect the scanner but not Mageia.
Mageia 2, linux 3.3.8-desktop-2.mga2, systemd 13.mga2 x86_64. Today (oct 24) , after updated to the latest, it was possible to install the scanner through Mageia Control Center. I could install Epson Perfection 2400. The Epson Perfection 2400 PHOTO wasn't in the database. In Mageia 3 the database the scanner exist. But doing scanning work OK.

Sorry for the long delay before answering. Does comment #5 mean that the problem is now fixed in Mageia 2?

I don't know if the problem is fixed but the scanning works.
I'll close it as fixed. If someone else gets the same problem they can still reopen or create a new bug report.
