ntp should be installed by default, IINM. How did you install beta1?

(In reply to comment #2) > ntp should be installed by default, IINM. IIRC it is necessary to explicitly select to use ntp, when setting the time zone during installation. It is only after doing so that ntp is installed.
(In reply to comment #2) Installed with DVD. It's fine that it is installed when needed, but this only happened via MCC, so anyone using the clock applet settings were faced with a greyed out option. If it is now fixed so that the clock applet can trigger the installation, then this is resolved for me.

It is only after doing so that ntp is installed. You're right. But I still think ntp should be installed by default. @ennael: WDYT?

What if someone want to use openntpd ?

Then he installs openntpd. The goal is to provide sane defaults and as they're not hardcoded the user can change them as he pleases. A similar situation is, totem is installed by default in GNOME, if the user wants smplayer or vlc, he can install them and uninstall totem; the difference is, openntpd conflicts with ntp, so the "uninstall" part will happen automatically.

In my opinion we do not need to hae it bydefault. After checking drakclock, looks like proposing it when choosing ntp is enough. And reporter above recognized it was ok.
Your call.
