Description Valery Pipin 2012-09-23 06:14:38 CEST
Mageia 3. kernel 3.5.4-desktop-1.mga3. The HP envy laptop with hybrid intel/AMD video cards. Inactive amd video card is now swithched off on the start even with out switcheroo. This is progress. However, the fan of the AMD card is activated after resume from suspend. This has a serious impact on the longevity of the laptop in the autonomous regime and instead of 4-5 hours laptop will has only 2 or less hours to work.

For example:
Before resume I have:
[vv@redwood ~]$ sensors
radeon-pci-0100
Adapter: PCI adapter
temp1: -128.0°C

acpitz-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +42.0°C

coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 0: +45.0°C (high = +95.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)
Core 2: +34.0°C (high = +95.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)

[vv@redwood ~]$ uname -a
Linux redwood 3.5.4-desktop-1.mga3 #1 SMP Sat Sep 15 10:25:13 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

And after:
[vv@redwood ~]$ sensors
radeon-pci-0100
Adapter: PCI adapter
temp1: +34.0°C

acpitz-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +43.0°C

coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 0: +45.0°C (high = +95.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)
Core 2: +36.0°C (high = +95.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)

Sorry, but this bug saw no action since over 2 yrs ago.
No cauldron package has stayed the same since then.

Closing as OLD

Please reopen if this report is still valid for _current_ cauldron and/or fully
updated Mageia 4
