This has been happening for some time but I mostly when I am turning off the computer or finishing for the day so have never gone through with installing debug packages and producing a useful backtrace until now \o/ I'll attach the backtrace. DrKonqi suggested it was possibly due to phonon and suggested various duplicates upstream listed below.
