Logging into Gnome messes up two things systemwide: Keyboard layout is switched to en_US (I guess) and tapping on the touchpad to produce a mouse click no longer works (otherwise, the touchpad seems to continue working). This is an 3alpha1 i586 net install; originally LXDE. On an old Centrino laptop w/ Synaptics touchpad (according to draktools). x11-driver-input-evtouch-0.8.8-13.mga3.nonfree is also installed. Steps to reproduce: ------------------- 1. Install 3alpha1 via boot.iso, selecting LXDE as only DM. Language en_US, everything else de_DE. 2. Update installed system, install task-xfce, task-gnome-minimal. 3. Run draktools Hardware, agree to install kcm_touchpad and wireless firmware. 4. Work in LXDE and Xfce: keyboard and touchpad work. 5. Log into Gnome: keyboard layout seems to be en_US and taps no longer click. 6. These two problems remain in LXDM, LXDE and Xfce. 7. Run drakconf Keyboard. Correct settings de_DE are displayed; click ok. 8. Everything works again.

Sorry, I should not have submitted this as a new bug; it seems to be bug 6840 with additional problems. Therefore assigning to Olav Vitters as well. Also, my old hardware is in Gnome fallback mode.

I updated my system. The keyboard problem is fixed now, but the tapping problem remains as before. You mention an update in bug 6840, can you tell me which package and version this is so I can make sure I have it? (Or should I be subscribed to mailing lists or sth. to get that info?)
