I am in french locales, when I ask LC_ALL=C xxxx, the reply is in french. Example : [jacques@localhost ~]$ LC_ALL=C cheese Erreur de segmentation [jacques@localhost ~]$
I founded that LC_ALL=C works for the app but not for the system. But there is a problem with utf8. Example : [jacques@localhost ~]$ geeqie Impossible d'initialiser le support de LIRC [jacques@localhost ~]$ [jacques@localhost ~]$ LC_ALL=C geeqie Could not init LIRC support Unable to convert filename to UTF-8: /home/jacques/Vidéos Invalid byte sequence in conversion input Unable to convert filename to UTF-8: /home/jacques/Modèles Invalid byte sequence in conversion input Unable to convert filename to UTF-8: /home/jacques/Téléchargements Invalid byte sequence in conversion input Unable to convert filename to locale from UTF-8: /home/jacques/Modèles Invalid byte sequence in conversion input Unable to convert filename to locale from UTF-8: /home/jacques/Téléchargements Invalid byte sequence in conversion input Unable to convert filename to locale from UTF-8: /home/jacques/Vidéos Invalid byte sequence in conversion input [jacques@localhost ~]$ Is it normal ?
Same with other gtk/gnome apps ? with qt/kde apps ? other ?
I do not found another app. It seems to be a geeqie problem.
seems your are confusing two bugs, so can we stay with the first one ?
I do not know if the first one is a bug, I think that LC_ALL=C is for the app not for system. (segfault is sent by the system). For the second one it is a special case and a normal user will not found it. If it is not important you can close this bug.
so yes closing..
