Description w unruh 2012-08-20 22:13:00 CEST
Description of problem: The system-config-printer applet is filling up $HOME/tmp with tens of thousands of links to a printer PPD file per second. This rapidly makes tmp unuseable (searching a directory of size .5GB takes forever).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):1.3.9-3.mga2

How reproducible:always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.logon and go into KDE.
2.print a file
3.tmp file fills up with links to the PPD file

I was having my system slow down and firefox take 15 min to open. I found that the home tmp file directory was at .5 GB (Ie the size listed in ls -ld tmp
was .5GB) which made many things hopeless to run. (eg netscape took 25 or 20 min to open). ls on tmp just hung for 10s of minutes with the disk light on constantly.

I finally discovered that if I started up in KDE, (with an empty tmp) everything was fine until the first time I printed, and then links (13 hex digits long starting with 5) would be created at a rate or tens of thousands per second.
I finally found that if I killed
python /usr/share/system-config-printer/scp-dbus-service.py
this link creation would stop. ( and now would not resume)

I do not know python and thus cannot figure out what is doing this, but it clearly makes the machine pretty useless quickly.

The directory entries are soft links to /etc/cups/ppd/CQ-east-2.ppd which is not even the default printer. (the default is CQ.ppd, although both point to the same printer.)

This message is a reminder that Mageia 2 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately one month from now Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 2. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '2'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 2's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 2 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

Mageia 2 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on ''22 November''. Mageia 2 is no
longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or
bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia
please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia
and reopen this bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
