Hello, On my computer with Mageia 2 and cups-1.5.2-5.mga2, I install a VirtualBax with Win XP and the printer connected on the LiveBox. From WinXP on VirtualBox, I can print from Win XP in VirtualBox, but i can't print from Mageia 2 !!!
This works in Mageia 3 with latest code. I install the network printer from SAMSUNG, which is proven to work fine with Mandriva 2010 and all other LINUXes. I add the PPD file "Samsung-M262x_282x-pxlmono-Samsung.ppd" when I add the printer. At the first start CUPS crashes. However after a restart I can repeat the adding of the printer and it works. libgnomecups-0.2.3-10.mga3 cups-pk-helper-0.2.4-3.mga3 cups-drivers-foo2zjs-0.0-0.20121012.2.mga3 lib64gnomecups-1.0_1-0.2.3-10.mga3 cups-common-1.5.4-9.mga3 python-cups-1.9.62-2.mga3 lib64cups2-1.5.4-9.mga3 gutenprint-cups-5.2.9-2.mga3 cups-1.5.4-9.mga3 libcups2-1.5.4-9.mga3

I want to describe the problem which is still present. If you add a printer on a computer which is on a network, then the printer may be also on the network or connected via usb. You can install CUPS and add the printer driver successfully on the first computer. You are able to print now. However unfortunaltely the printer driver is installed as shared. You must manually remove the sharing of the printer. If you install CUPS and the printer driver on another computer in the network, then this won't work if you did not unselect the sharing on the first computer. The printer would otherwise be automatically detected but unusable. CUPS seems to hang or crash. You can continue only if the printer is not shared. Then you are able to install the printer driver on any computer in the network. I think that this is a bug which should be fixed. You should not install the driver as shared by default. Then every user will be able to use it. And you should repair CUPS that a shared driver will not crash CUPS on other computers.
