Description of problem: I found this for tkdvd (which is not a Mageia 2 package), however, it only takes a growisofs command line to demonstrate this. Using growisofs to burn a data DVD works, but when it opens and closes the tray, the new DVD is not readable intil I manually open and close the tray again. This makes it impossible to, for instance, set up a script to check the files on the DVD that runs an hour later. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Always for me. I wouldn't be surprised it it depends on your model of DVD burner. This one is connected by SATA and dvd+rw-mediainfo produces this output: /usr/bin% dvd+rw-mediainfo /dev/sr0 INQUIRY: [ATAPI ][iHAS324 B ][AL19] GET [CURRENT] CONFIGURATION: Mounted Media: 1Bh, DVD+R Media ID: MBIPG101/R05 Current Write Speed: 16.0x1385=22160KB/s Write Speed #0: 16.0x1385=22160KB/s Write Speed #1: 12.0x1385=16620KB/s Write Speed #2: 8.0x1385=11080KB/s Write Speed #3: 6.0x1385=8310KB/s Speed Descriptor#0: 00/2295103 R@6.0x1385=8310KB/s W@16.0x1385=22160KB/s Speed Descriptor#1: 00/2295103 R@6.0x1385=8310KB/s W@12.0x1385=16620KB/s Speed Descriptor#2: 00/2295103 R@6.0x1385=8310KB/s W@8.0x1385=11080KB/s Speed Descriptor#3: 00/2295103 R@6.0x1385=8310KB/s W@6.0x1385=8310KB/s READ DVD STRUCTURE[#0h]: Media Book Type: 00h, DVD-ROM book [revision 0] Legacy lead-out at: 192*2KB=393216 READ DISC INFORMATION: Disc status: complete Number of Sessions: 1 State of Last Session: complete Number of Tracks: 1 READ TRACK INFORMATION[#1]: Track State: invisible Track Start Address: 0*2KB Free Blocks: 0*2KB Track Size: 192*2KB ROM Compatibility LBA: 270336 FABRICATED TOC: Track#1 : 17@0 Track#AA : 17@192 Multi-session Info: #1@0 READ CAPACITY: 192*2048=393216 Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run this, substituting for the file foo.sh: growisofs -Z /dev/sr0 -J -r -speed=8 -dvd-compat -pad -graft-points foo.sh=/home/arromdee/foo.sh 2. Try to mount the DVD. (I am running fvwm2; there is no Gnome desktop or anything else with automounting.) It won't mount. mount: no medium found on /dev/sr0 3. Manually press the eject button on the DVD drive to open it, then manually push it closed. Wait a few seconds for it to read the DVD. 4. Now try to mount it. It works. Worked fine for me when I was running Mandriva 2010.1. (But I don't think it even tried to eject the tray back then.)
This message is a reminder that Mageia 2 is nearing its end of life. Approximately one month from now Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 2. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '2'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 2's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 2 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. -- The Mageia Bugsquad
