Description Gene Alexander 2012-07-29 18:21:06 CEST
I have been trying to get a video capture of my screen this weekend using XVidCap and it kept crashing with a segmentation fault. My system is now on Mageia 2, but when I finally thought to check the version of XVidCap installed ... it was still the old PLF version I used with Mandriva. Apparently the Mandriva 2010.x to Mageia 1 migration I did early this year did not recognize the PLF XVidCap as a replaceable package. Then my Mageia 1 to Mageia 2 migration did not replace it either. I removed the old PLF version by hand and was then able to install the new XVidCap from Mageia 2 sources. This should be fixed so that anyone still using the PLF version will get an automatic upgrade to the Mageia version when doing a migration and/or updates.

As the package is only in mageia2 and above it's normal that is was not updates with mga1

for mga2:
$ rpmvercmp.rb 1.1.7-2mdv2010.0 1.1.7-2.mga2
1.1.7-2.mga2

so I don't know, funda, tavvva ?

CC: (none) => fundawang, tavvva

Hello guys.

If the latest PLF release was 2, then we should increase it to 3. That could solve the problem -> I'm gonna do that.

Regards,
Jaromir.

Sorry Manuel. I didn't read properly. The version compare considers the mga2 version more recent. So ... that doesn't look like a problem in the xvidcap package. Maybe an RPM/urpmi issue? I remember the MDV->MGA upgrade procedure was a bit painful for me too. I had to remove all remaining PLF and MDV packages by hand.

J.

This message is a reminder that Mageia 1 is nearing its end of life.
In approximately 25 days from now, Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing
updates for Mageia 1. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it
remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '1'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to
fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later
Mageia version prior to Mageia 1's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not
be able to fix it before Mageia 1 is end of life. If you would still like to see
this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia,
you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version
of Mageia.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime,
sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia
release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

Mageia 1 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on ''1st December''. Mageia 1 is no
longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or
bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia
please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia and reopen this bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
