Description José Jorge 2011-04-07 08:13:51 CEST
After an upgrade from 2010.2 to Mageia Beta 1, this one of the most important softwares I need.

Thanks

I'm afraid we will not import it:
- it's still requiring qt3
- nothing happened there since 2009

I have been very eager to see Mageia advancing overall.

But as a non Mandriva user I find detail & information for Mageia seems to be rather scattered around the Internet. It can make finding relevant information extremely hard to find - it seems so un-coordinated.

When chasing i.e. Twinkle, I have found only the above.

With this in mind may I suggest that the last line re "nothing happened since 2009" is incorrect.
Twinkle continues albeit slowly, not on the main site but with the support of an enthusiastic sub group who still hope to rebuild a Qt4 or alternative version amongst their other ongoing efforts.

I have Twinkle in my current distro - & having used it now for a few years I am sad to see that Mageia "will not import it"

Why persist? Well there are few really good VOIP clients & IMHO Twinkle CONTINUES to top that list, even without current changes, because it WORKS NOW.

So if & when Qt3 is gone sometime in the future hopefully by then Twinkle will also have released a new version/s, but for now in this very limited world of VOIP clients, it continues to be a very valuable program.

Please reconsider your decision.

P.S. The Internet is all about communication - it would be rather sad if we were to dismiss such an important communication facility.

What do you mean by "if & when Qt3 is gone" ?
QT3 is end of life and unsupported since July 1st 2007.

But still exists - as a search in rpmdrake currently shows at end of April 2011 using Mageia Beta2.

Closing because of the reasons Anne and Nicolas mentioned above.

Please reopen when a Qt4 version of Twinkle is available
