Description Italo Ramirez 2012-07-11 05:17:43 CEST
Description of problem: More of a problem is a proposal!

I'm using KDE and hatred ARK, file-roller is ugly, but effective, isn't compatible with Dolphin, but I prefer it anyway, the problem is that when installing file-roller, Nautilus also installed, then when any application calls manager files, runs nautilus instead of dolphin. OK! an experienced user will be system-settings and corrects it, how many experienced users know each of us?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Start in KDE, install file-roller, download any file, open file container.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start in KDE
2. Install file-roller
3. Download any file
4. Open file container

seems a change in the spec since gnome3
http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages/cauldron/file-roller/current/SPECS/file-roller.spec?r1=91874&r2=111244

Summary: Is it strictly necessary that nautilus is a dependency for file-roller in KDE? => nautilus as a dependency of file-roller

Comment 2 andré blais 2013-04-19 01:38:47 CEST
file-roller still requires nautilus in the latest revision in Cauldron (3.63-2)
Both file-roller and nautilus are part of gnome3 since mageia 2.

A comment in the spec says it needs nautilus for the gsettings schema (used by gnome).

So barring a re-structuring of gnome (upstream), file-roller will continue to require nautilus.

So for users of KDE and file-roller that don't want to use nautilus, the work-around is to change the default file browser.

Upstream issue. Assigning to maintainer for the day (if it comes) when upstream fileroller can work without nautilus. To bug reporter: what could help is you looking at other distributions to see if they all require nautilus.

This message is a reminder that Mageia 2 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately one month from now Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 2. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '2'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 2's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 2 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

Mageia 2 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on ''22 November''. Mageia 2 is no
longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or
bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia
please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia
and reopen this bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
