The Zen Kernel is a the result of a collaborative effort of kernel hackers to provide the best Linux kernel possible for every day systems. We include code that is not included in the mainline kernel in an attempt to create an all-around better kernel for desktops (although it can be compiled otherwise). This is done by including new features, supporting latest hardware, and including various code and optimizations to better suit desktops. Zen is a 100% community oriented project so, as a result, everybody can contribute to the project. http://zen-kernel.org/ Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): zen-stable-3.4 Zen is a variant of the Linux kernel that performs two major functions: (1) optimizes for desktop setups, and (2) provides a user base for project admins seeking testing for their project on various setups - these projects may or may not be seeking inclusion into the upstream Linux kernel. So, in essence, the kernel gears for desktop systems by adjusting tuning knobs and merging projects that suit this purpose in one way or another (for example, the BFS cpu scheduler is added _in addition_ to the default CFS scheduler). Additionally there are multiple things added and changed in the kernel that not everybody will benefit from (perhaps driver updates/additions and various bug fixes). The idea is to benefit Linux desktop end-users, kernel developers, and perhaps even more individuals. Zen is a collaborative effort that includes a small group of developers but also a fairly large community that contributes much like the developers do. It is important to the user community Mageia have available Kernel Zen, one of the most responsible kernels available!

I have already used the zen kernel. The distro flied with zen kernel. It's very update and also It's a very good enhacement. It's a good idea to have more options with kernel to the user choose. I think the nowadays kernel on Mageia 2 yet too slowly. The zen kernel is very advanced and it's the fastest kernel available.I hope will make this available sooner to the Mageia 2.Mage will be much more stronger with this new zen kernel.
