I have used the dictd-server and dictd-client from the command line for my dictionary needs for a Very Long Time. Likely more than 10 years now. I do not want a GUI based dictionary like StarDict as I prefer the fast lookup at the command line. These are the RPMs I currently have installed on my many times upgraded Mageia 2 system: dictd-client-1.10.1-6mdv2008.1 dictd-dicts-devils-0.1.0-14mdv2010.0 dictd-dicts-easton-0.1.0-14mdv2010.0 dictd-dicts-eng-fra-0.1.0-14mdv2010.0 dictd-dicts-foldoc-0.1.0-14mdv2010.0 dictd-dicts-fra-eng-0.1.0-14mdv2010.0 dictd-dicts-gazetteer-0.1.0-14mdv2010.0 dictd-dicts-gcide-0.1.0-14mdv2010.0 dictd-dicts-jargon-0.1.0-14mdv2010.0 dictd-dicts-lat-eng-0.1.0-14mdv2010.0 dictd-dicts-vera-0.1.0-14mdv2010.0 dictd-dicts-web1913-0.1.0-14mdv2010.0 dictd-dicts-wn-0.1.0-14mdv2010.0 dictd-dicts-world95-0.1.0-14mdv2010.0 dictd-server-1.10.1-6mdv2008.1 dictd-utils-1.10.1-6mdv2008.1 Obviously a fresh install would wipe these out with no recourse but for me to find all the bits and install everything from source. The reason to use a RPM based distribution is to avoid that. :) One may download the latest dictd-server / dictd-client source here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/dict/files/dictd/dictd-1.12.0/ Several "free" language translation dictionaries are here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/freedict/files/ The DICT Development Group Formatted DICT Databases are here: http://www.dict.org/w/databases/dict However, it appears their FTP server is down at the moment. I have sent a message to hostmaster@dict.org to find out when it will be back up. Once they fix their FTP server, at a minimum I would like to see the command line dictd server, dictd client, and all of the DICT Development Group Formatted DICT Databases added to Mageia. Thank you.
