Description Chris Denice 2012-07-01 16:07:15 CEST
Hi,
I have been testing this USB TV stick: PCTV 340e and we have on Cauldron exactly the same issues as those described in that thread (sorry in french):

http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=746171

Namely, a missing firmware for the module xc4000 leading to kernel oops. The firmware is available there:

http://www.kernellabs.com/firmware/xc4000/README.xc4000
http://www.kernellabs.com/firmware/xc4000/dvb-fe-xc4000-1.4.1.fw

which may go to non-free I guess. However, the module itself is looking for

dvb-fe-xc4000-1.4.fw

which requires either a symlink to the 1.4.1, or a module argument specifying firmware_name. I tested 1.4.1, and it is loading fine.

Cheers,
Chris.
