Description Richard Urmonas 2011-04-06 17:24:57 CEST
With a fresh install of Beta 1 x86_64 a RT3090 wifi card fails to initialize. This is installed on an Acer Extensa 5220 laptop.

/var/log/messages shows:

Apr 6 08:17:08 localhost kernel: rt2860 0000:04:00.0: firmware file rt3090.bin request failed (-2)
Apr 6 08:17:08 localhost kernel: NICLoadFirmware failed, Status[=0x00000001]
Apr 6 08:17:08 localhost kernel: rt28xx Initialized fail!

The above group of messages are repeated multiple times in the log (more than 100 times!).

Additional information:

The Hardware Configuration shows the Module as rt2860sta.

This card did work with Mandriva, so I searched the Mandriva rpm database and they list an RT3090 module.

For your logs, you're missing the firmware for your rt3090 wifi card. Please put the rt3090.bin file from http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/dwmw2/linux-firmware.git;a=blob_plain;f=rt3090.bin;hb=HEAD into /lib/firmware and try again.
