Description of problem:

unetbootin + fedora liveusb were both installed and neither would display a target usb drive in the drop-down despite the fact one was indeed plugged in and mounted. both I and and a friend of mine in portugal who packaged linux mint's imagewriter discovered after trying it he ran into the same issue. after it happening in imagewriter he promptly installed unetbootin and fedora's liveusb and axperienced the same thing.
