Description Hans Micheelsen 2012-06-13 16:13:11 CEST
Some time ago I enabled MapsGL in maps.google.dk, but once it was enabled firefox crashed. And each time I try to access maps.google.dk firefox crashes once it has loaded the page. It is 100% reproducible each time.
When I access maps.google.com where I haven't enabled MapsGL, firefox does not crash.

In order to get more information I started firefox from command prompt. But when it crashes it only gives; "Segmentation error". Is it possible to make firefox a little more verbose?

Apparently this is a sort-of-well-known problem with google maps. It seems to be related to some graphics cards; "http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/maps/Tc7rexW3ejw". I solved the problem by issuing http://maps.google.dk/maps?vector=0

But how did Mandriva avoid this problem. I had MapsGL enabled when I was using Mandriva. An earlier ATI-driver, maybe?

I'll close this bug anyhow. As Wontfix, as the problem is there but its not a Mageia bug. Please feel free to reopen if you think it deserves further investigation. I've listed the ATI specifique output from lspci :

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV730 PRO [Radeon HD 4650]
01:00.1 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc RV710/730 HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 4000 series]

Status: NEW => RESOLVED
Resolution: (none) => WONTFIX
