Description of problem: I could really use Grub 2 in Mageia 2 right now. I'll explain why. I installed & fully updated Windows 7 64-bit on both of my computers in my home & then I installed Mageia 2 on the side of it. When I rebooted my computer & chose Windows in GRUB-menu it wouldn't load Windows correctly & I got a message telling me to insert the Windows-CD/DVD to repair the system & I did that, but still GRUB won't load Windows. This happens on both of my computers after reproducing this more than 2 times. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 0.97 How reproducible: Everytime. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Windows 7 64-bit. 2. Fully update it. 3. Install Mageia 2 next to Windows. 4. Reboot & choose Windows in GRUB-menu. 5. Voila! Windows can't be loaded & you're told to use the Windows-CD/DVD to repair the bootup-sector which won't do the trick.

I can't see anything wrong with that. Maybe someone else can. You could try replacing: root (hd0,0) with: rootnoverify (hd0,0) in the windows entry in menu.lst If that fails and you want to try using grub2 then I will write a howto for you to try which you will need to print or view on another machine while doing it. You will also need a working live CD and a spare very small usb stick/SD card to store a script. Do not try restoring your windows system or update/alter your Mageia installation in the meantime.
OK to try grub2 follow this *carefully*, if you get any error messages STOP and ping me ;) http://paste.debian.net/172724/ Good Luck ;)

Ah - I was just looking at your RESULTS.txt again and noticed something. Try using this in your Mageia /boot/grub/menu.lst title Windows 7 rootnoverify (hd0,1) makeactive chainloader +1

After restart I'm unable to repair the partition since I always delete rescue images after installation.
OK - Please open a new bug on the non-booting of Win7 issue, giving the exact steps to reproduce and as much information as possible with a fresh RESULTS.txt from the new installation. Assigning this (backport) bug to me.
