Description of problem: The tablet laptop will not boot unless xdriver=vesa is set in boot. Note that even after booting in vesa, using the mageia control center to change the driver to the appropriate intel driver will cause the screen to black out (no backlight or screen display) and freeze the system. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): HP Compaq TC4400 is the computer model Mageia 2 GNOME x86 (i586) is the current system How reproducible: 100% (Cannot NOT reproduce, as much as I'd hope to) Steps to Reproduce: 1. Get HP tablet (tc4400) with intel 945g graphics board 2. Attempt to boot off the USB drive (No CD drive) 3. System locks up IMMEDIATELY after getting gl_conf from a certain file NOTE: You CAN boot it into fallback gnome with xdriver=vesa. HOWEVER...even attempting to switch the driver to intel after booting causes the exact same issue stated above. The system locks up, and the screen goes black. A hard powerdown is the ONLY way to restart the system. System Request REISUB does NOT work, leading me to believe the kernel has silently crashed.
Hi Tyler This looks like bug 6077 The SysRq keycombinations didn't work there, either Would you maybe be able to provide the logs Claire asked for in that report, and attach them there? *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 6077 ***
