Description of problem: IMPORTANT: There are no known issues with the GIT version of Wine1.4 (ie, Wine as available straight from Wine HQ) and Office 2007. The version of Wine (1.4-1.mga2) shipped with Mageia 2 does not seem to function correctly for MS Office 2007. I would like to use a backport/alternative version but cannot seem to install any other version on Mageia2. An example: I cannot install anything from MIB (mib.pianetalinux.org): it is as if it is forcibly denied. Note that this is for both 32bit and 64bit releases. I also considered building from source but it is very difficult to meet the requirements for the .configure of the Wine install (when running x86_64). Not to mention the additional requirements. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Wine-1.4-1.mga2 (i586 & X64_86) How reproducible: Every single time. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install office 2007 with Wine and apply post-install tricks from Wine-HQ. 2. Open any application and click on save or open. 3. The application crashes with
Summary: Wine 1.3.37 fully supports MS Office 2007 - I am unable to install this package from MIB or another RPM source => Wine 1.4-1(mga2) has problems with Office 2007 (and 2010)
Note: I installed Mageia2 x86_64 on my work PC and i586 on my Notebook and they both work great except for Wine. No matter which Wine architecture package I install, the problem persists on both my laptop and work PC's.
Proposed fix: Make some earlier versions of Wine available (example 1.3.7). It is not nice trying to compile Wine from source on Mageia X86_64 because it requires so many dependencies and some actually conflict.
