The desktop file uses : Exec=/usr/local/bin/trackballs Instead of /usr/games/trackballs.

trackballs-1.1.4-7.1.mga2 in updates_testing fixes this : only launch it from the DE menu.

x86_64 Jose, this appears to be missing a require/suggest on trackballs-music. There are notifications on screen what music it is playing but it doesn't play any music of course without trackballs-music. Also pressing escape to go back to the main menu causes the menu to display briefly, then the game quits. There is no error message so it might be the intended result. Confirmed the desktop file fix though.
$ trackballs setLocale: -> en_GB.UTF-8 Welcome to Trackballs. Using /usr/share/games/trackballs as gamedata directory. Attempting to open mixer...successfull Warning. Could not find highscore file /var/lib/games/trackballs/highScores Trackballs initialization successfull Warning: too fast framerate (0.000000) Too fast framerate (0.000000) could be the error I suppose.
I noticed now, since it quit, the system tray icons are shown in the middle of the taskbar, on top of the task manager. Switching to another virtual desktop and back sets everything back to normal I guess that could be KDE but I thought it worth mentioning.

Validating for stable involves making sure it works OK. If a suggest is needed, and has been added in cauldron, then it should really be added here José. There is little point in us testing otherwise and it is simple enough to fix. Where the game displays at the start of the level that it is playing some music and the music isn't playing because of a missing suggest then that is a fairly major feature broken in a game. In the past when we have created separate bugs for things like this they have been ignored, in general, and the bug has remained unfixed so we really don't like to do so.
(In reply to comment #6) Ok, so trackballs-1.1.4-7.2.mga2 now suggests trackballs-music.
retesting x86_64 Confirmed the added suggest. No linking required for bug 2317, despite the new scenarios, as trackballs-music has no dependencies which aren't installed in a minimal installation. Checked with current depcheck script. I'll attach the script, in its current form, to bug 2317 for review. Music now playing as it should and it starts from the menu icon. Testing complete x86_64

Testing finished successfully on i586, MGA2. Source RPM : trackballs-1.1.4-7.2.mga2.src.rpm Confirming the added suggest. Update also fixes the original issue, game can now be launched from the DE menu. As for the game itself, I have identical graphical glitches with both versions (current and testing), but the game itself works, so this shouldn't keep this update from getting pushed. Update validated. Thanks. Advisory: -------------- This update fixes the launch entry in the menu. It also adds a suggest on trackballs-music. -------------- SRPM: trackballs-1.1.4-7.2.mga2.src.rpm Could sysadmin please push from core/updates_testing to core/updates. Thank you!
