Description Yann COLLETTE 2012-05-26 22:19:05 CEST
tuxguitar freezes at startup.

I think the problem comes from the fluidsynth plugin.
I removed this plugin from /usr/share/tuxguitar/plugins and then, tuxguitar started without problems.

I downloaded the binary package for x86 from the tuxguitar website and this one started fine with the fluidsynth plugin activated (I needed to uncomment a line in the file in the META_INF directory of the fluidsynth plugin).

any errors in the command line if you start tuxguitar from here ?
Comment 2 Yann COLLETTE 2012-05-28 14:39:09 CEST
The only message I've got is more a warning message:

Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"

After that, nothing happens. Only the hard drive has "a certain amount" of activity.

You are right, I forgot to apply this fix to cauldron, and now to mga2.
Submitted to testing tuxguitar-1.2-7.1.mga2 , please report if this fixes the bug for you, as on my i586 system I cannot reproduce.

OK, I tested this package on mageia 2 64 bits under virtualbox and it worked for me.
Thanks for the fix.

Testing i586

Could you please say how to reproduce this bug.

[RPM] eclipse-swt-1:3.7.1-3.mga2.i586 installed
[RPM] tuxguitar-1.2-7.mga2.i586 installed

It works for me without the update.

Even with fluidsynth installed

fluidsynth-1.1.5-2.mga2.i586.rpm
Comment 7 Yann COLLETTE 2012-06-12 16:07:52 CEST
Have you removed ~/.tuxguitar-1.2 ?
On my side, I tested tuxguitar on mageia 2 i586.

Tested x86_64 and i586.

I was unable to reproduce the crash, even after removing .tuxguitar-1.2 but there don't seem to be any regressions.

The problem of it defaulting to jack still remains. Switching to gervill allows playback.

As the crash is now cured for Yann I will validate.

Advisory
---------------
This update for tuxguitar corrects a crash affecting some users when the program is started.
---------------

SRPM: tuxguitar-1.2-7.1.mga2.src.rpm

Could sysadmin please push from core/updates_testing to core/updates thanks.
