Description of problem: When starting BOINC, whether from console or icon BOINC crashes with a SIGSEGV error, sometimes it will start in "Simple" view but crashes when switched to "Advanced" Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Magiea 1, Nvidia V275.xx drivers, BOINC V6.10.58, Current CUDA files How reproducible: See Below Steps to Reproduce: 1. Clean install of Mageia 1 2. Install Nvidia current drivers from repo 3. Install BOINC from repo 4. Try to start BOINC. Start from console with "./run_manager --verbose" command to see error message. (Ignore path error messages for wxstd, wxgtk and BOINC Manager. They do not effect the operation of the BOINC program and are there even on a working install.) N.B. Bug only shows on a clean install of Magiea. It does not occur on an "upgrade" to Magiea from Mandriva 2010.1 System is Gigabyte GA-EX38-DS5 M/B, 4GB PC9600 RAM, E7200 processor, 2 x GTS250 video cards
The choice "component" in the drop down box is pretty awful. There were no choices there that really suit this problem

Most likely a configuration issue, as it works here provided I'm in ~/BOINC. I get the segfault if I'm not in that directory. I'm running boinc under my own userid. The default configuration of the rpm package is to run it as the user boinc, so you would have to have that user setup, su -l boinc, and cd to the right directory (/var/lib/boinc). If you already have a boinc setup in ~/BOINC, try cding to that directory and then running /usr/bin/boinc_gui. I normally just use cd /home/dave/BOINC /home/dave/BOINC/run_client >/dev/null &

This message is a reminder that Mageia 1 is nearing its end of life. In approximately 25 days from now, Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 1. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '1'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 1's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 1 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. -- Mageia Bugsquad
