Description Kristoffer Grundström 2012-05-17 15:47:21 CEST
Description of problem: I just installed Mageia 2 RC using the boot-nonfree.iso & I'm not using any Testing-medias at all. Problem is that when you login to KDE4 the login sound should appear directly with the splash-screen, but it doesn't in my case. A moment after you've logged in the login sound appears & it seems to freeze the desktop a bit.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 4.8.2

How reproducible: Everytime I login to KDE4.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download boot-nonfree.iso from any mirror.
2. Burn it to a USB-key or disc.
3. Boot installation of Mageia from reboot.
4. Choose Advanced install.
5. Choose both GNOME and KDE as Desktop Environments.
6. After installation is finished, login to KDE4 from login-window.
7. Voila! No login-sound appears directly.

I see this too, but the delay is on the order of 15 seconds. During that time, some things, e. g. konsole, will start right up when clicked. Others, like Firefox and Thunderbird, can be clicked on the panel, and will give you the jumpy cursor with the miniaturized icon, but won't open until the sound has played.

I encounter the same problem, too. My system is Mageia 2 Cauldron on i586. The problem has been existing for a while.

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja

Still valid for my Mageia 2 system (which is Mageia 2 alpha with all updates applied) installed on my hard disk and for Mageia 2 KDE Live CD.

I still see this issue on another installation on my laptop.

This message is a reminder that Mageia 2 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately one month from now Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 2. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '2'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 2's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 2 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 12 Manuel Hiebel 2013-11-23 16:15:45 CET
Mageia 2 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on ''22 November''. Mageia 2 is no
longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or
bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia
please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia
and reopen this bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
