Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja

I'm not sure about that.
As we don't have a default web browser (and some people cried very loud, when I wanted to add one to task-lxde), I would not add an email client as default.

People can always use webmail clients of their providers.

Comment 7 claire robinson 2013-04-25 12:55:03 CEST
We already install firefox IINM.

I can understand size restrictions of the dualcd but installed from dvd/network it should be a proper DE, especially now we have separate task-lxde task-lxde-minimal
Comment 8 Oliver Burger 2013-04-25 13:19:15 CEST
Firefox is not installed as a dependency of task-lxde, it is something in rpmsrate iirc.
Comment 9 claire robinson 2013-04-25 13:24:31 CEST
Either way, with task-lxde & task-lxde-minimal now there is no reason to purposely relegate our lxde users to webmail (assuming they have it)
Comment 10 You-Cheng Hsieh 2013-04-25 15:19:26 CEST
Actually I haven't commit the changes yet. And my original intent was to only add the tools by lxde team since those mostly have not many dependencies.

I think we can leave other "no-so-light" apps choice for Mageia 4, personally.

+1
Comment 12 claire robinson 2013-04-25 15:45:48 CEST
Maybe, but you'll notice this bug was originally filed against pre-release Mageia 2..

Seems reasonable to me to expect an email client with a full desktop environment.
Comment 13 claire robinson 2013-04-25 15:46:45 CEST
razorqt installs one btw
Comment 14 Oliver Burger 2013-04-25 16:26:08 CEST
Yes and no!
It seems reasonable for GNOME or KDE which bring Email programms of their own, but LXDE does not provide one.
And I don't want to impose some special email program onto the user.
Comment 15 claire robinson 2013-04-25 16:38:27 CEST
That's a shame. Perhaps we should just install a standard thunderbird then which is common to other desktops.
Comment 16 claire robinson 2013-04-25 16:39:00 CEST
actually it isn't is it. Close as wontfix then.
Comment 17 You-Cheng Hsieh 2013-04-26 04:02:09 CEST
I decided to add packages based on lxde components wiki:
http://wiki.lxde.org/en/Status_of_LXDE_components

No email client listed (yet), so no email client for now.
