Description of problem: The Network Icon on the Panel (showing two Computers and a small x in the lower right corner) shows: Wired: unmanaged Wireless: unmanaged Network Settings the last option opens the Gnome Netowork Settings where you can again choose between Wired and Wireless (and Configure the Proxy). selecting Wireless there shows an Interface which _might_ be intended to configure the Wireless Network (Options) but regardless what you do, you cannot configure the Wireless there (button stays grayed out). Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gnome-control-center-3.4.1-2.mga2 How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. login, open Network Settings from the Applet 2. select Wireless, try to configure anything 3.
works fine here, is the nm_controlled in your /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-* set to on ?

nope, but I didn't change anything there, i.e. it is a default cauldron system, basically no modifications. should I change that? if so, how?

it was with a livecd, you can change the file with your favorite editor or use drakx-net or draconnect, at the end of the configuration there is a checkbox, "allow networkmanager to use the connection" or something like that
Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja

nearly 3 months later. no reply closing as old there are newer versions of gnome-control-center in cauldron and in 2/updates_testing Please reopen when needed and tell for which version(s) of Mageia and gnome-control-center this bug is still valid. If it is valid for both cauldron and Mageia 2, then please put MGA2TOO on the whiteboard and let version remain set to cauldron
