Description Tyler 2012-05-12 03:42:17 CEST
Description of problem:
The Telepathy messenger installed by default in the version 2 RC is incapable of adding accounts. It throws an error that telepathy-haze and telepathy-gabble must be installed by the local package manager. However, the x86-64 packages of those items are already installed. This makes it so no accounts can be added, and renders this pre-installed messenger useless.

NOTE: As this software is installed by default, I've marked it as major severity. Its not really good to ship with broken software.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
N/A I'm not entirely sure which library is responsible, as no errors are comming up regarding them.

How reproducible:
100% on newly installed system. Fully upgraded as of 5/11/12

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the telepathy messenger contact window either on the task bar or through the main menu
2. Attempt to add account (MSN or "Other" preferable)
3. Claims telepathy-haze/gabble must be installed despite already being present.

System is an Asus G73SW. Installation is an RC of Mageia 2 x64 KDE4. Installed from the live cd.

Note: Kopete is installed and working. Telepathy messenger is still broken as of the Kopete installation.

A fix was found. It turns out a package was missing that should have been installed to enable functionality. However, the telepathy-haze plugin had to be fully uninstalled and re-installed to acquire the library. The missing package from my x64-86 install was pidgin-plugins. The information below is from the software manager entry for the missing package:

Version: 2.10.4-1.mga2
        Currently installed version: 2.10.4-1.mga2
        Group: Networking/Instant messaging
        Architecture: x86_64
        Size: 2361 KB

Again, I'd make sure that this package is included in the x86_64 installation, as it breaks telepathy-kde-contact-list without it.

Priority: Normal => High

Well the bug is in telepathy-haze which is missing a requires to pidgin-plugins not really in telepathy-kde (thought it should not fail like this).
The solution is to add pidgin-plugins on the dvd/live-cd & issue an update later for telepathy-haze with the missing requires ( telepathy-haze does not provides any functionnality without it)

Ennael > could you either remove telepathy-haze from the live-cd/dvd or ensure that pidgin-plugins is available on both media ?
