Created attachment 2158 [details] this should do it Note that this isn't really a bug. You should have the choice between 16 & 24 in XFdrake.
Yes it is! I have only ONE choice 16, even when I had put 24 into xorg.conf. I can only change it back to 16. I have tried it on a box without this chip. I can only create a new xorg.conf with 16 using XFdrake. You can try it yourself.

Created attachment 2160 [details] real fix This one do work. Blino, Thomas, we were previously only accepting 16bit for vesafb but now that we've more various drivers underneath, we may have to offer more depths. WDYT?

This attachment is 5627.diff, something about a bootloader.

Yes, with that fix it works!
BTW can you test using x11-driver-video-modesetting?

Please never paste a file but attach one (though that's uneeded there). Just install x11-driver-video-modesetting and replace "fbdev" by "modesetting" in xorg.conf

I see that the DefaultColorDepth 24 has not made it into mageia-2-RC. The DVD-i586 install works as there is no DefaultColorDepth in xorg.conf; but KDE4-Live-i586 displays on the left part of the screen in so strange colors that I cannot read the text. I know that this is caused by DefaultColorDepth 16.
Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja

Yes, it still applies. The Mageia Control Center only allows 16-bit for fdev, but the Intel Poulsbo US15W driver requires 24-bit depth. Thierry Vignaud gave me a fix (attachment 2167 [details]) and it worked, but it did not make its way into the source. The change of fdev into modesetting nearly works, but the cursor is missing.
