Description Maurice Batey 2012-04-27 17:35:18 CEST
Description of problem:

When invited to key in data e.g. when setting up a message filter, or a signature, or even entering a password, very often keyboard entry is inhibited, so it is impossible to enter data.
(A workround seems to be to place the mouse pointer in the window and 'copy'. This seems to release the keyboard lock.)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

  Evolution 3.4.1 (under KDE 4.8.2)

How reproducible:

Almost every time keyboard entry into a window is needed.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Request creation of e.g. a message filter

2. Try to key in data into the window

3. Usually nothing happens! Occasionally it works.

You can reproduce under gnome and/or with another gtk theme ?
if yes should open an upstream bug.

The theme I'm using is 'Oxygen'. Which other would you like me to try?

W.r.t. Gnome, please remind me how to use Gnome instead of KDE.

Actually, similar bug was filed to oxygen-gtk directly.
See:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=299121

Its an upstream bug (either evolution, or gtk3)

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja

Comment 9 Maurice Batey 2012-05-26 22:09:14 CEST
No longer valid with Mageia-2 Beta3 fully updated, so I think it's reasonable to assume it will be OK in Mageia-2 Official.
