Description Tony Blackwell 2012-04-26 12:59:00 CEST
Description of problem:
hplip 3.12.2, as supplied with M2B3, has bugs particularly related to scanning on some newer mfp's. See:
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/release_notes.html

Any chance of sneaking in 3.12.4, which fixes these issues, for the RC??

I'll put this in as a normal bug - in case there is time...

Can you test hplip-3.12.4-1.mga2 that is available in Core Updates testing

Tested, mixed results.
1. the hplip 3.12.4 runs OK, but...

2. the functionality it provides (double-sided scanning with the hp8600 plus) does _not_ work, as xsane does not seem to have been updated.

When I downloaded the hplip 3.12.4 source onto Mageia1 x86_64, congfigured, compiled and installed, xsane shows one new config option. Where as xsane 0.998 in M2RC gives the usual scanner choices of ADF or Flatbed, the same version of xsane in my Mageia1 now additionally shows a 'Duplex" option in the pulldown box.

Did the hplip install also do this? (Did you build with the relevant sane packages?)

Without this option in xsane, no duplex scanning is possible it seems.

I haven't been through the hplip source to see if the xsane changes were part of this.

Appreciate your work on this.

Hello,
the version 3.12.4 is also needed for an Officejet 6700 Premium.

Quite late for feedback. Seems we have to push hplip-3.12.4 as a post-release update.

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja

Yes, 3.12.4 is still only in updates_testing. Will take a look for it soon.

So as noone objected so far, handing this over to QA for validation:

There should be soon hplip-3.12.4-1.mga2 in core/updates_testing to validate

Suggested advisory:

Comment 17 Thomas Andrews 2012-07-11 03:55:04 CEST
Tested on an i586 system:

Deskjet 5650 with duplexer works Ok, except for duplexer bug that seems unique to my system, where on documents with an odd number of pages the last page is not rejected by the duplexer. Page can be ejected manually by use of the power switch. No one seems to be able to duplicate this problem, which I have had since Mandriva 2010.1, so I have learned to just live with it.

Scanner on an Officejet 6110 working perfectly.

With both architectures tested now, I'll go ahead and validate the update.

Thanks for helping with the testing.

Could someone from the sysadmin team push the srpm
hplip-3.12.4-1.mga2.src.rpm
from Mageia 2 Core Updates Testing to Core Updates.

Advisory: This hplip update addresses the folloving issues:

o Print/Fax queues can now be analyzed by running "hp-diagnose-queues"

o fixes Wireless configuration using hp-wificonfig command for

o fixes the blurry printing issue on HP LaserJet CP1025 and CP1025nw
