Description of problem: I downloaded the dual arch iso via torrent & burned it to a USB-key using unetbootin followed by doing sync command for /media/New_volume & got no errors doing so. When I set my BIOS to boot from USB & restart it the installer gets a kernel panic message. How reproducible: Everytime I've retried boot the installation using the same method. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open desired webbrowser. 2. Go to http://www.mageia.org/ 3. Click on 2 (Beta3). 4. Download the dual arch iso via this link: http://www.mageia.org/en/downloads/get/?q=Mageia-2-beta3-dual-CD.iso&torrent=1 5. Connect the USB-key. 6. Open unetbootin. 7. Burn that iso to the USB-key. 8. cd to /media/NameofyourUSB-key 9. Type sync. 10. Unmount the USB-key. 11. Reboot the computer. 12. Set your BIOS to boot from USB. 13. Boot the installer. 14. Voila!
I have to mention that using boot.iso or each arch version on its own works fine.

As far as I know unetbootin has always produced broken boot for Mandriva and Mageia

Sorry for the double-post in the last reply.
You said "I downloaded the dual arch iso via torrent & burned it to a USB-key using unetbootin"

Do you mean that you tested with dd? cd /directory-with-iso/ dd if=Mageia-2-beta3-dual-CD.iso of=/dev/sd? bs=1M where sd? is the usb drive.

Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja
