Description Adrien D 2012-04-22 14:04:52 CEST
Hi team Mageia,

After downloading a file with Firefox 10.0.3 on Mageia Cauldron Beta 3 (x86_64, KDE 4.8) in the window named "Downloads" I do a right click on the file and "Open the folder containing the file".

Gwenview opens, not Dolphin.

Could you repair it ?

Note:
[adrien@marrowgar ~]$ rpm -qa | grep firefox ; rpm -qa | grep dolphin
firefox-10.0.3-1.mga2
firefox-fr-10.0.3-2.mga2
lib64dolphinprivate4-4.8.2-1.mga2
dolphin-4.8.2-1.mga2
dolphin-handbook-4.8.2-1.mga2

seems your default file browser is wrong set

[manu@vosdook ~]$ xdg-mime query filetype Téléchargements/
inode/directory
[manu@vosdook ~]$ xdg-mime query default inode/directory
nautilus-folder-handler.desktop

so you have to use

xdg-mime default dolphin.desktop inode/directory

or something like that.

I have exact the same behaviour after a fresh installation of Mageia 2 Beta 3. During installation I have chosen KDE as desktop environment.
Firefox seems to be the standard browser in Mageia even if you use KDE. It shouldn't be necessary that you have to manually set the correct file browser by tweaking configuration files.

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja

I installed Mageia2 yesterday, on Mageia1 "/" keeping my /home.

When I do a right click on the file and "Open the folder containing the file",
Konqueror opens, not Dolphin...

However, the default file manager is Dolphin ....

I also add that I tried with the xguest session, the problem is the same (Konqueror opens, not Dolphin).

The bug is still present in Mageia 2 final. I performed a clean install of Mageia 2. During installation I've chosen KDE as desktop environment. The first thing I did after I logged into KDE the first time was to open Firefox, downloading a file and clicking on "Open the folder containing the file" and Gwenview opens instead of Dolphin. Exactly the same behaviour as in Mageia 2 Beta 3.

Solved in Cauldron.

I try the same action I described in my first post, and it opens Dolphin ;)

Works here too although an additional Firefox dialog box appears and asks for assigning an apllication for the chosen action after selecting "Open the folder containing the file".

check files:
 /usr/share/applications/defaults.list
 /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
string:
 inode/directory=<browser>

for LXDE i was changed to:
  inode/directory=pcmanfm.desktop;

Comment 11 Florian Hubold 2014-08-24 18:35:11 CEST
Should be fixed in cauldron and Mageia 4:

[user1@localhost ~]$ grep -i 'inode/directory' /usr/share/applications/defaults.list /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
/usr/share/applications/defaults.list:inode/directory=nautilus.desktop
/usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache:inode/directory=pcmanfm-qt.desktop;kde4-kfmclient_dir.desktop;kde4-dolphin.desktop;kde4-gwenview.desktop;

When clicking "Open containing folder" in firefox, pcmanfm opens (on fresh LXQT install)
