Description of problem: Magiea 2 uses a broken build of OpenJDK 1.7, some Java softwares simply crashes when using it. Please rather use a more recent version like Fedora 17 does: java version "1.7.0_03-icedtea" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (rhel-2.1.f17.7-x86_64) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 22.0-b10, mixed mode) Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): java version "1.7.0_b147-icedtea" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (mageia-2.0.4.mga2-i386) OpenJDK Client VM (build 21.0-b17, mixed mode) How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Launch Eclipse 3.7 2. Go over the signature of a method 3. Eclipse crashes

please update your java version ( i updated to the last one ) and retest
Now, I cannot boot anymore because of another bug that I have to report. I will retest as soon as possible. This bug is blocking for me, it would potentially prevent me from switching to Mageia 2.
Hi According to the wiki, OpenJDK 1.7.0.1 is provided with Mageia 2 beta 3: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_2_beta3 "java openjdk-1.7.0.1 and sun-1.6.0.26 " Please provide a more reliable version of OpenJDK 1.7 with the latest security fixes, which is currently OpenJDK 1.7.0.3 (working with IcedTea 2.0.1): http://mail.openjdk.java.net/pipermail/distro-pkg-dev/2012-February/017249.html I'm sorry to insist on this aspect but Java mustn't become a second class citizen and it is the responsibility of the packagers to update the packages in order to protect the system from known (and fixed) vulnerabilities. I will be able to test Mageia Cauldron when a bug on systemd is fixed (I still can't reboot on it).
Hi, I have some problem too with icedtea that I reported here : https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5656 I see that the RC will be with OpenJDK 1.7.0.3, so I wait for this RC and re-test!

bad news. even with the rc and the OpenJDK 1.7.0.3 I still have the same problem
I think that your problem comes from a freeze in ProjectX itself, the root cause is not the same than mine.
My problem is solved, and it wasn't projectx faults. It was a java problem : OpenJDK 1.7 does'nt work. I 've installed OpenJDK 1.6 (32 bit version since rpmdrake don't let me install the 64 bits version, without telling me why...) With the command line "sudo update-alternatives --config java", I choose the 1.6 version, and now it's ok (both for projectx and geogebra).
nice :(
Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja

Hi In my case, openJdk 1.7 still doesn't work, need to downgrade to 1.6.
I cannot switch to Mageia 2 because of a problem with the broken initialization process.

Hi I will probably make another attempt of install tomorrow, I will be able to tell you whether this bug is reproducible. However, I need Icedtea-web 1.2 too in order to fix a bug with Google Chrome and Java Web Start / NetX: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=135363 http://icedtea.classpath.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=811
Hi Thank you very much. Icedtea-web 1.2.4 and OpenJDK 1.7 update 3 work fine. Keep up the good work.
