In (2), do you refer to 'Mageia Control Center' ? It is able to create shares directly, without the kde4-filesharing package (though I haven't tested it recently myself). BTW., it is not necessary to reboot, just to start the smb service (which you can do from the Mageia Control Center (System->Manage services ...)

Hello Buchan, Yes in 2, I refer to 'Mageia Control Center' (see the screen capture on http://www.mageialinux-online.org/forum/topic-12379+mageia2-64-bug-sur-le-partage-de-repertoire-depuis-dolphin-et-konqueror.php) Be careful, in the Mageia Control Center, there is two tools to share directory with samba : 1) The first, in section "Network Share" 2) The second, which is the subject of this bug. It simplifies for a newbie disc sharing by using the share function of Dolphin or Nautilus. This tool aims to configure samba for the share is accessible directly from the file manager of the various desktop environments. And this tools should automatically install the package kde4-filesharing because without it is impossible to obtain the desired functionality

So it shouldn't automatically install kde4-filesharing (trust me, gnome's users won't agree if MCC installs half of KDE when they configure filesharing for Nautilus ;-) ). kde4-filesharing will be installed by default for KDE desktop environment (from DVD or net install). http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages?view=revision&revision=232778 regards, Luc
