Description Bjarne Thomsen 2012-04-17 22:45:54 CEST
Description of problem:
Mageia2-beta3 in VirtualBox running on Mageia1.
KDE is installed. Trying to install task-gnome.
While installing evolution-webcal the screen freezes completely.
I must close VB.
The next try freezes while it installs qemu.
I must close VB. Then I finally install using
urpmi task-gnome
I had this problem some time ago; but it looked as if it
had gone away, but now it is back.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
rpmdrake-5.33-1
task-gnome-3.4.0-3
urpmi-6.48-1

How reproducible:
It is not reproducible, sorry.
Oh, now it hangs initializing, but it responds by
"Please wait is not responding"
This comes from rpmdrake.
What else do you need?

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

I can add that the library files used by qemu actually had lengths of zero.
They gave a lot of warnings when I installed task-gnome by urpmi.
Question: can a lot of warnings saturate rpmdrake, so that it hangs?
I uninstalled the offending rpm packages by urpme
When I used urpmi --auto-update, they were not re-installed.
It appears to me that there must be a bug in rpmdrake or some of its subsystems
if faulty packages can hang the system.

Unfortunately I did not write down the time; but I think it is here:

Apr 17 22:02:29 localhost kernel: [ 0.000000] Initializing cgroup subsys cpu

There is nothing after libsushi1.0_....
I am going to install from beta3-DVD to see what happens.
Comment 4 Bjarne Thomsen 2012-04-19 05:16:56 CEST
A fresh install of i586 from beta3 DVD went well without any problems.
