Description of problem: When re-booting a Mageia system with a multi-boot configuration, a specific target partition for the desired boot can be specified when "restart" is launched. This does not work on my Dell 990 desktop computer: immediately after the end of the shutdown the computer goes into a permanent loop with the display of a rapid succession of lines (too rapid to read their contents precisely - apparently various lines from a bootstrap menu). The only way I found to come back to normal is powering the machine off (I am using the latest bios - version A11 - available for the Dell 990). Mageia2 (cauldron) on my laptop system works correctly - the problem seems to be hardware (bios) specific. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Always. Steps to Reproduce: 1. In a multi-boot system, select "Restart" from a desktop session or the login screen 2. In the Restart popup window which is then displayed, keep the "Restart computer" button pressed until the list of the available bootable partitions is displayed 3. Select a partition and wait for shut-down to proceed
Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja

The problem is still present with Mageia 2 (and, in the meantime I replaced the Bios, went from Revision A11 to A13 - no influence on the problem) Juergen
