Created attachment 1994 [details] /var/log/gdm I boot and login at the gdm login screen and everything is fine. I'm using both KDE and Gnome. I logout of KDE and Gnome and return to the login screen, which looks fine, but is completely unresponsive. The mouse pointer moves, but that's it. CTRL+ALT+DEL does not work. I can get to TTY3 with CTRL+ALT+F3, and I can reboot from there. After reboot it will work again for one login. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Cauldron x86_64 up to date as of April 14, 2012. How reproducible: Everytime. Steps to Reproduce: 1.boot 2.login 3.logout 4.try to login again, it won't work. From within KDE I deleted everything under /var/log/gdm and then logged out. From console I made copies of all the new files that were created during logout and attempting to log back in.

I cannot reproduce here. What actual DE did you use, you said "KDE and Gnome" above, does this mean you've tried twice, logging into a KDE desktop and then again separately to a Gnome desktop and ended up with the same results? What X11 driver do you use?
I get the same results from either KDE or Gnome. I'm using the proprietary ATI fglrx driver.
Hmm, I'm guessing this is something related to the driver. Can you try switching to the open source driver and see if you can reproduce?
I changed the driver to vesa and the problem went away. When I changed it back to fglrx the problem reappeared. The workaround, for anybody else experiencing this, is to use the lock screen, change user, or reboot options within the DE, and not use the "logout" option.

The latest updates appear to have fixed the problem.
Great. Thanks for letting us know.
