Description Joe Da Silva 2012-04-11 07:30:25 CEST
Description of problem:
Recently did an update from Mageia 1 to Mageia 2, Beta 2. There was a battery indicator available on the KDE desktop for the Mageia 1 install, but it eventually got lost with updates. Doing an update to Mageia 2, Beta 2, was hoping to see the battery indicator available, but there is no battery indicator shown.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Mageia 2, Beta 2

How reproducible:
Update using USBmemory copy of Mageia 2, Beta 2, DVD
Comment 1 Joe Da Silva 2012-04-21 20:28:01 CEST
I noted that I was unable to see the battery indicator for KDE Beta2, but the Gnome desktop appeared okay with showing the battery, so it was likely a desktop malfunction and not something lower down like the kernel.

KDE desktop shows battery right now for Mageia2, Beta3 LiveCD version.
Have not tried the DVD version yet, but if the settings are the same for both versions, then I think this problem is resolved.

Thanks! :-)

Back to same problem again.
Seems during LiveCD, I have a battery indicator, but after installing from LiveCd to computer, the battery indicator got lost again.

Interesting, is plasma-krunner-powerdevil or plasma-applet-battery launched after the install ?
Comment 4 Joe Da Silva 2012-04-21 23:43:01 CEST
plasma-applet-battery wasn't installed.

Installed it. Reboot. Working okay now.
I'm guessing it was not included in the list of packages to be installed.

Problem resolved. Thanks!

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja
