Description Andrew 2012-04-11 06:32:52 CEST
If Mageia 2 Cauldron Beta 2 is installed offline without attempting to update via installer (which doesn't work anyways), then only repo enable by default is the installation disc ("CD-ROM core media").

Mageia is unable to find packages or check for updates until the online repos ("mirror lists") are added through Media Manager within rpmdrake. These should be enabled by default (or at least "Core Release" and "Core Updates")
Comment 1 Andrew 2012-04-11 06:33:39 CEST
Apologies in advance if this has already been fixed since Beta 2 as I'm unable to get Mageia updated beyond that point.
Comment 2 Andrew 2012-04-11 06:44:55 CEST
I should add that I mean Mageia cannot be updated on a system running KDE exclusively.

Andrew, you are reporting many problems that have been fixed since
Beta 2.

If you want to help with testing, please either wait till beta 3, or
start wih a fully updated Mageia 1 system, and use "killall mgaapplet"
followed by "mgaapplet --testing", to run the upgrade.

Why couldn't someone just tell me that sooner? This whole time I've been fighting with Beta 2 to get it to where you guys currently are without having to wait for Beta 3. Thanks - sorry for the inconvenience. I didn't mean to waste your time.

If you want to update beta 2 just add online media but don't use rpmdrake to do the first update. Do your first update with urpmi (urpmi --auto-update). This will fix rpmdrake.

About this bug. If you use offline media to install your system then we won't enable online media as we don't know if you are going to have internet at all. So to me this bug seems like a won't fix. It's not that hard to remove offline media and add online media.
