[ 16.558250] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: request for firmware file 'iwlwifi-6000g2b-5.ucode' failed.
[ 16.558450] iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: request for firmware file 'iwlwifi-6000g2b-4.ucode' failed.

It's works with installing the package iwlwifi-6000-ucode ?
Comment 5 papoteur 2012-04-12 19:12:25 CEST
Yes, it works yet after copying the ucode in libfirmware, from:
http://intellinuxwireless.org/iwlwifi/downloads/iwlwifi-6000g2b-ucode-18.168.6.1.tgz
wlan0 is created
There is some other problems.
- the configuration with MCC ended with a message that the tests were not concluant. But the interface can be activated with networkmanager (in Gnome) by selecting the network.
- if the interface is switched off, it can not be switched on after that, except from Windows.

Comment 6 Manuel Hiebel 2012-04-12 20:00:55 CEST
OK, seems we have not the last version.

Tmb, maybe we can update these iwlwifi-* packages ?

For the other problems, one bug is already open for the wrong test, and I guess the other is more upstream.

Ok,
How the user can use it? Is it installed directly if the repo non-free is activated?

Arf I was thinking, the 6000 and the 6030 are not the same.

Yes it should, does it works ?
Comment 10 papoteur 2012-04-13 12:09:08 CEST
Yes, the driver is present in

Source RPM: iwlwifi-6000-ucode => iwlwifi-6000-ucode drakconnect iwlwifi-6030-ucode

Comment 11 Manuel Hiebel 2012-04-13 12:27:13 CEST
closing then, since it seems working great

Comment 12 Sander Lepik 2012-04-13 12:55:40 CEST
I wouldn't close it. I saw similar problem with my friends computer. With older Intel cards drak* tools install needed firmware. With some new hardware that doesn't seem to happen. AFAIK even enabling all repos didn't make it detect the needed firmware.

I confirm that there is still a problem that drakconnect does not find or install the good driver, even if non-free repo is activated.

Comment 15 papoteur 2012-04-27 08:05:22 CEST
After an update of draknet, Axone said that the messsage it get has changed, but the driver is not found, After selecting the interface wlan0:
Erreur

http://intellinuxwireless.org/

It seems:
Some packages are necessary, but not available. These package are available in Mageia or in repo non-free.
The component is missing: /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-5000-5.ucode

This component is not the one which is expected to work.
