Description of problem: net_applet and networkmanager are running simultaneously in LXDE. I have 2 icons, one is a globe for net_applet, a second one is two screens for networkmanager. It seems to me that one is in excess. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Mageia Cauldron task-lxde-2-4.mga2 Yves
Well this is a bug in all desktop, and networkmanager is not installed as default (only in gnome), but it overight the using of net_applet (when it's correctly configured) so you can add remove the autostart of this one. Right click on net_applet, parametres, uncheck "always lauch"

Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja

This bug is as old as the hills, and still applies in M6, probably M7 - at least with multiple desktop installs. All minority desktops show both network Systray icons; the bugbear is that the networkmanager one shows "network disabled", which is not true. The debate about networkmanager v net-applet has dragged for several releases, and never gets discussed & decided. A council affair, I think.
