Description of problem: Began doing an upgrade from Mageia 1 to Mageia 2, Beta 2, and the touchscreen mouse appears to have the wrong X/Y ratios. The centre appears to be 1/3 from top-left corner (mouse cursor under finger). If you touch towards the left, the mouse appears further to the left than your finger, while if you touch towards the right, the mouse is further to the right, so the X scaling appears wrong or larger. likewise with up/down, the centre is approximately 1/3 down from the top edge, and the Y ratio also behaves similarly where the mouse is further than it should be. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Mageia2 Beta2 How reproducible: Install/upgrade from USB stick. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Copy Mageia 2 iso to USB stick 2. Install/upgrade from USB stick 3. Mouse ratios incorrect on screen.
and what is wrong in the distro Xorg or the driver/firmware ?
Component: Installer => RPM PackagesSource RPM: Mageia 2 Beta 2 - touchscreen not calibrated correctly => (none)
Wish I knew if it was one or the other. The BIOS screens function correctly if you mean firmware, unless you mean some other sort of driver. Appears to be only in the iso install process because once I've accomplished the upgrade and boot in, the mouse functions correctly. I haven't tried a clean install - hopefully it functions correctly there.
Touchscreen mouse appears to work fine on Mageia 2, Beta 3 Live CD. I have not tried the DVD version yet (problem appeared on Mageia2, Beta2).
Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja

Summary: Currently doing an upgrade from Mageia 1 to Beta 2, and the touchscreen mouse has incorrect X/Y ratios => Currently doing an upgrade from Cauldron 2 to Mageia 2, and the touchscreen mouse has incorrect X/Y ratios
Okay, Changed the bug subject line to reflect that it's Mageia 2 and here's the results for Mageia 2. Tried out "Mageia-2-dual-CD.iso" and the problem is still there. Tried out "Mageia-2-LiveCD-KDE4-Europe1-Americas-i586-CD.iso" and it works okay.
Comment 5 reflects the Installer screens. I also note that for "Mageia-2-dual-CD.iso" we have one type of screen displayed which fills the entire screen and includes the left tab which shows the step in the process you are doing next, while with "Mageia-2-LiveCD-KDE4-Europe1-Americas-i586-CD.iso" we have another type of screen displayed which shows a small window taking-up about 1/2 by 1/2 the screen but no indication of what you are doing next.... this is when you get to the 1st question about which language do you want to use.

This message is a reminder that Mageia 2 is nearing its end of life. Approximately one month from now Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 2. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '2'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 2's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 2 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. -- The Mageia Bugsquad
