Description of problem: I downloaded a couple of mga packages and their dependancies in an attempt to get my head around on how mageia 2 works. I'm use to being able to either just click on the package file to install it, or in a terminal, call it up with it's installer to do the same. However I found the installer insisted on going on-line and freshly downloading before installing. I tried the same thing from a terminal using urpmi, which from reading I thought worked similarly, It also insisted in a fresh download! How reproducible: very Steps to Reproduce: 1. download a package to your home directory 2. use either of the methods mentioned 3. similar results.
what do you use for installing you 'local' rpm ? urpmi * or urpmi ./xxxx.rpm should use them (iirc) (you can also add -v or --debug to see more details)

urpmi filename.rpm as i'm in the relevant directory already, I hadn't considered the need to put a ./ in front of the filename.

works for me. Please attach (not paste) output of urpmi. eg: the log.txt file resulting from running urpmi -vv --debug foobar.rpm 2>&1|tee log.txt
