Description jon scsi 2012-04-06 01:11:31 CEST
Don't know if these should be individual problems, but as they all relate to the one 'system' I've listed them together for now!

Description of problems: 5 I list as critical!

1- repedative opening /proc/splash failed messages on f4

2- Video on F1 Failed to load modules,dbe, glx, record, dri, dri2 - errors are 'module does not exist,0' and on it went with errors related to video.

3- f1- after proceeding, please wait and starting a timed download- 1st download ok, second file errors Curl9190 given file does not exist, 3rd download ok

4- GTK Warning **Locale not supported by C Library' -lines 205 and 206 are listed

5- CRITICAL PROBLEM with Hard Drive detection -
Found 'Intel Corporation | 82801FB/FW (ICH6/ICH6W) Sata Controller" Interfaces
Do you have another one?
- Mine is this one and it works with Mageia1 and other linuxes OK.

6- also for notes:
earliest message showed kernel lib 3.2.6-desktop-3.i586, later showed lib 3.3.1
Retreval of [/mnt/var/Cache/urpmi/patch-oem.pl] failed
retreval of [/mnt/var/cache/urpmi/release-notes.i686.html] failed

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Workstation is an acer V3700GX hooked up to a hp p1120, internet via satellite

How reproducible:
to me, every time, tried last night twice, 2.30am 3 times, this morning twice.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Download and burn the latest boot.iso
2.Put a boot CD in and start
3.and on you go!

I just downed severity and priority levels. But it's cause does need fixing as a priority before release still!

REASON: It looks like the problem is with the aarnet mirror content. It's either missing or corrupted.

I just decided to try another site (nluug.nl) and it's got to the point of picking desktops and desktop-package sets, without any major errors visable on f1, f3 or f4, before I deliberately bombed it out.

I shall try with nluug when I am back in off-peak time, late tonight as it wants to download some 2.2gig still. That will mean that two-thirds of my monthy allowance will be gone already when it's down!

I shall attach the response on how it went with nluug tomorrow.

By the way, there needs to be an overiding exit button visable and available for the installer during any stage of the install added! Having the only option of just turning the power off, just doesn't seem the right thing to do in the linux world!

Priority: High => Normal

yes but it's not easy to do (iirc) and feel free to open a bug for this one (do to in the long term :) )

I guess we can close this bug, as it's more an mirror issue (that will never happen with a stable release)
Comment 4 jon scsi 2012-04-08 05:09:05 CEST
confirmed that aarnet mirror is the problem, downloaded and installed ok from nluug.

I was more than slightly peeved to find on reboot, that it deleted all the install packages without asking. I had intended to copying them across to one of my other test machines without internet access too see how it would handle it's hardware.

Your last statement Manual I shall record and store offline,:-)}, I suspect it may come back to bite you!

I have marked it resolved and fixed, although resolved is right, maybe there should be something like 'workaround' added to the second pickbox for these types of problems as fixed is not really right.

Status: NEW => RESOLVED
Resolution: (none) => FIXED
