I just restested upgrading from Mageia 1 to 2, this time using
mgaapplet --testing 
instead of the custom mgaapplet-cauldron that I was using, and on restart
of urpmi, it's failing with

getting mirror list from http://mirrors.mageia.org/api/mageia.2.i586.list?reason=upgrade,upgrade_by=mgaapplet,upgrade_from=1
/usr/bin/perl: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libgdk-x11-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: _XGetRequest

gtk+2.0 should bump minimal version of one its requires

Source RPM: urpmi-6.40.3-1.mga1.src.rpm => gtk+-2.0
