Description Dave Hodgins 2012-03-25 22:08:15 CEST
During testing of upgrade from Mageia 1 to Cauldron, I encountered the
following error ...

The following packages have to be removed for others to be upgraded:
libchamplain-gtk0.8_1-0.8.3-1.mga1.i586
 (due to missing libclutter-gtk-0.10.so.0)
libchamplain0.8_1-0.8.3-1.mga1.i586
 (due to missing libclutter-glx-1.0.so.0)

Mageia 1 has libchamplain-gtk0.8_1
Mageia 2 has libchamplain-gtk0.12_0

As the version number is part of the package name, it seems urpmi is
not selecting the update.

I'm not sure how that should be fixed.

You have no /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:03:00.0/ with mga2?
Can you also attach the pci.txt file resulting from "cat /proc/bus/pci/devices > pci.txt" for both mga1 & mga2?

IMHO this isn't an error and obsoleting old libs defeats the purpose of libification.

But I guess we could obsolete old one this time to ensure smooth upgrade.
Comment 4 Colin Guthrie 2012-05-09 22:54:05 CEST
I think this is behaving correctly.... the new libchamplain-gtk should be pulled in as a dep elsewhere, so the removing warning is IMO correct.

any news ?
Comment 6 AL13N 2012-05-18 22:13:39 CEST
from what i read here, it seems this is not a bug... i wonder if something needs to be done, or can this be closed?

Comment 7 Colin Guthrie 2012-05-19 12:17:36 CEST
Well, looking at this a bit, it seems it's simply the clutter packaging that's broken:

[colin@jimmy code]$ rpm -qf /usr/lib64/libclutter-gtk-1.0.so.0 --obsoletes
lib64clutter-gtk0.10_0 < 1.1.2

Why does this obsolete the old clutter lib package? It doesn't look like it conflicts with anything....

It's also strange that libclutter-glx-1.0.so.0 is provided by libclutter1.0_0 on both mga1 and mga2 so I don't see why that's in the loop.
Comment 8 Thierry Vignaud 2012-05-19 13:49:39 CEST
Indeed.

Hi,

This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment.

Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2.

Thanks :)

Cheers,
marja

Hi, thanks for reporting this bug.
As there is no maintainer for this package I added the committers in CC.

This message is a reminder that Mageia 2 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately one month from now Mageia will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Mageia 2. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX (EOL) if it remains open with a Mageia 'version' of '2'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Mageia version prior to Mageia 2's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Mageia 2 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Mageia, you are encouraged to click on "Version" and change it against that version of Mageia.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Mageia release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

Mageia 2 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on ''22 November''. Mageia 2 is no
longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or
bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Mageia
please feel free to click on "Version" change it against that version of Mageia
and reopen this bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
