Description of problem: The Help in the bootloader configuration page of the installer is incorrect. It appears to be a directory structure from somewhere - totally meaningless to anyone trying to install a bootloader ;) Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Net install today (25/3/2012) How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

Yep, you're right. I doubt this should be a release blocker, though. Mageia 1 didn't even have any help files.

Same when pressing "help" on Xorg module selection.

@ Thierry It seems the problem is somewhere else than I thought. setupX.html and setupBootloaderBeginner.html are both where they should be, in /usr/share/doc/installer-help/ I don't think something went wrong when generating those files anymore. The filenames are exactly what they were in Mandriva 2010.1 Is it possible that in Mdv those two help files were retrieved from somewhere else, even though they were also available in /usr/share/doc/installer-help/ ? Another weird thing is, that we have a help for the Sound Configuration, although it isn't in /usr/share/doc/installer-help/ and although we never wrote it.
CC: (none) => thierry.vignaud
No. sound doc came from drakx code :-)
It may be ... As translator also in Mandriva I remember to have been told there is no sense to translate install-help, such as it was in SVN, because it will be retrieved from somewhere else - I don't remember exactly but it was documentation project (Camilla and NeoDoc are the keywords I can remember).
install-help is pretty dead indead but sound help doesn't came from here but from harddrake::sound
(In reply to comment #6) > I don't remember exactly but it was > documentation project (Camilla and NeoDoc are the keywords I can remember). You have a very good memory: Camille and NeoDoc We just started with new help files that are also written with help of NeoDoc and Camille. But as soon as they are found to be correct and in the correct place, they need to be translated. Your help is very welcome then :) @ Thierry Assigning to you, because I don't think there is anything I can do. Can you please change the anchors in drakx-installer-stage2 so that setupX.html and setupBootloaderBeginner.html do work?

Well, the thing in times of Mandriva was that the system NeoDoc applied (at first Borges, later it was something else) was at least for me as translator uncomprehensible - and I guess fo others, too, because translations of Mandriva docs just dried off after that ... Hopefully Mageia will use some system more translator-friendly for their documentation, be it install-help or user manuals or whatever (e.g. something like KDE does: written in docbook, converted for translators to gettext po-files and then back to docbook for end-users).
(In reply to comment #9) @ Marek Our documentation is in fact written in docbook5.0 files and then converted to html, pdf or whatever is needed. @ Thierry In Mga2b3 setupX.html and setupBootloaderBeginner.html are still not there, but I do see a help file for the Resolution screen - Choose the resolution and the color depth (Graphics Card: intel 810 and later) Where does that come from?
This is still the case in RC pre-release.
I'm now checking with a network install, both missing pages are displayed fine when clicking on the links to them in the help page for the summary, misc-params.html That is at least something
(In reply to comment #12) > I'm now checking with a network install, both missing pages are displayed fine > when clicking on the links to them in the help page for the summary, > misc-params.html > > That is at least something Because someone just misunderstood: Clicking on help in the "bootloader main options" screen doesn't display the help text. However, after clicking on "Help" in the Summary and seeing misc-params.html displayed, the link to setupBootloaderBeginner in it works fine, it displays that page. The same is true for setupX.html, you can only see that page when using the link in the general help for the summary page.
The problem i can see with the way it works with X setup is that you have to setup X before the summary, so it's really weird to have a browser here :\

Installing Mdv 2010.1 PP, in the first choose a monitor screen, right after adding a user and giving the root password, hitting the help button gives a white empty screen. Same for the Graphic card & monitor configuration screens (except the one for resolution, which works for Mageia, too) The same happens in the Bootloader Main Options screen: all you get is an empty, white screen. I seemed we inherited this bug from Mdv, as well. The only difference is getting a white screen instead of a few of directories

https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=52121 https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=47318 Looks like the same bug, except for us having a help for the mouse choice screen, now. Could whatever fixed #47318, help us?
No.

(In reply to comment #14) > The problem i can see with the way it works with X setup is that you have to > setup X before the summary, so it's really weird to have a browser here :\ No, what I see during installation is that X is configured automatically, and we get the possibility to configure X only in Summary. Perhaps it depends of videocard.
It depends on your hardware, indeed, but even then it can happen that on the same system one time you get the screen before the summary page and the other time you don't and it was correctly detected. Or you don't get the screen and it wasn't correctly detected, but you see a red word on the "Graphical interface" line in the summary page that draws your attention to the missed setting.
Hi, This bug was filed against cauldron, but we do not have cauldron at the moment. Please report whether this bug is still valid for Mageia 2. Thanks :) Cheers, marja

Just did a test upgrade with the test drakx-installer-help At least 5 of the file names papoteur found are correct (of the bold ones in this list https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Help_buttons_in_DrakX-installer#Installer_File_Names ) I tested with an upgrade install, so maybe there is more. In the summary step, I found * configureX_chooser for the Graphic Card & Monitor Configuration * configureX_card_list for Choose an X server * configureX_monitor for Choose a monitor * setupBootloader for Bootloader Main Options * setupBootloaderAddEntry for after you choose to add and/or modify an entry in Bootloader Configuration @ Thierry There are no help buttons for Network & Internet Configuration (again when going there in the summary), but papoteur found a file name "configureNetwork". Is the help button hidden? If so, can it be made visible?
re-assigning to doc team, we are going to fill those 5 files with real help texts so that this bug can be closed :-D

committed for En and Uk are: * configureX_chooser.html * setupBootloader.html they are written for French too, but not committed yet configureX_chooser was written for Spanish, but I think the entire Es help still needs to be committed (no time to check now) The other 3 files are expected to be committed for En this week. All other translations still need to be done
Whiteboard: (none) => 3alpha1
French * configureX_chooser.html * setupBootloader.html are in SVN too, now But I'm too late, it is improbable the new files will be in alpha 1, sorry.
configureX_chooser and setupBootloader are now committed (not submitted) for all languages, for the new language Spanish the Bootloader help files are still in English, though. The other 3 working new help files are filled with help texts but might need improvement, they are only available in English, now.
Some pages are still using marja's links, Desktop Selection and some other links, so valid still for 3alpha2.

(In reply to comment #29) > Some pages are still using marja's links, Desktop Selection and some other > links, so valid still for 3alpha2. That is correct, nothing changed since comment 28, no new commits or submits. I'll try to commit all changed files asap.

Forgot to close this bug, it is fixed, but for translations that still need to be done the English text will show instead of a translated one.
