Description of problem:
under certain circumstances, libxt application loop based programs end up in an infinite loop of:
Select failed; error code 5
Select failed; error code 5
Select failed; error code 5
Select failed; error code 5

this is caused by a recent commit trying to fix a different bug, which should be reverted until a proper upstream bugfix is available.
